主产于河南新郑、中牟等地，也是新郑枣区的主栽品种之一，约占新郑枣区总产量的30％，是我国红枣出口拳头产品，主要固定销到东南亚和日本等地，经济效益较高。　　
       
    果实较小，平均单果重5.6g，大小整齐。‘鸡心枣’的代表型为鸡心状，果皮薄，果肉厚，致密，质细，味极甜，可溶性固形物含量31％以上，可食率 91.8％，是优良的制干品种，制干率较灰枣高，干枣可食率约为90.3％，核小，肉质较紧实，有弹性，耐压挤，耐贮藏，品质极上。　　　　
       
    果实于9月中旬成熟。树势较旺、丰产、稳产，抗干旱、耐盐碱、耐瘠薄、抗干热风、抗病虫能力强，特别是抗枣缩果病。成熟季节遇雨不裂果。因与酸枣亲缘关系较近，因而用酸枣作砧木改接后丰产、稳产性好。最枣中的优良品种，可大面积推广栽培。新郑小枣为地理标志商标。
