河南鹿邑试量集的狗肉是豫东著名的风味小吃之一，它以肉烂味美闻名全国。
      
    试量集狗肉采用传统的制作方法，配有多种佐料，并加火硝少许，去杂后文火焖煮。煮成的狗肉颜色鲜艳，浓香扑鼻。
      
    据说狗肉的香，居肉类食品之最。狗肉的补性，可与贵重补品媲美。再加上鹿邑试量集有制作狗肉的传统技术，做出的狗肉与众不同，所以慕名前来争相购买的情景就可想而知了。
      
    试量集在鹿邑城西25公里处。试量狗肉特点是：颜色鲜红，手捻为丝，味道鲜美，熏香醇厚，久贮不腐。

    据传，西汉末年，刘秀被王莽追赶至现鹿邑县试量集郎庄东地时，已累得精疲力尽。他忽见田间有一老翁正在埋头赶牛犁地，便忙着上前求救。老翁得知详情后，速让刘秀躺在墒沟里，而自己却若无其事地继续干着田里活。
      
    不一会，王莽的闻龙犬赶到，到处乱闻乱扒。眼见这“狗东西”快要接近刘秀了，老翁急中生智扬手一鞭将犬打死，并立即拖至墒沟里遮好。这时，王莽带领人马赶到，急问犁地的老翁是否看到一人和一犬？老翁镇静地故意指错方向，将王莽骗走。刘秀就此得救，谢过要走。老人哪里肯依？便将狗煮给刘秀吃。刘秀因饥肠辘辘，边吃边夸狗肉味美。
      
    后来，刘秀当了皇帝，他常想起落难时吃过的狗肉来，便传旨派人把试量集的狗肉都抬进宫来，他边吃边夸道：“天下美味孤吃够，吃不够试量的好狗肉。”由此，试量集的狗肉一举闻名，久盛不衰，相传至今。
