南阳盆地周围的一些山丘地区,多种植乡土优良香型梨树品种—黄沙梨。因其具有香味,又有黄香梨之美称。 该种梨树为乔木,千高5—7米,树冠开张,呈园头形,或扁园头形。叶片黑绿,呈友沟状长卵园形,先端渐尖,目一{尖歪向一侧,基部近楔形,或近园形,边缘具细刺状锯齿.幼叶紫红绿色,叶片小而密。抽枝力中等偏上,萌芽力很强,枝条纤细绸密,但较硬实,以短果枝群结果为主.本品种间授粉结果率较低,以异品种梨,特别是野生棠梨作授粉树为最好。果柄中一长,果呈扁园形或近似园形,果皮青黄或蜡黄,果点细密,心室四至五个,果肉为白色,含水率65肠左右,含糖8 肠,含酸量较低,生食、熟食均无酸味,含有较高的芳香脂肪酸,果肉具有香味,生食入口香甜,熟食甜软可口,具有独特风味。果实石细胞较多,故称黄沙梨.果皮较厚,耐贮藏宜运输,无病、无伤、无虫害之果,可贮藏到来年春夭而不坏。单果重15。—20。克,重者可达25。克以上,单株年产数百斤,多者达千斤以上。高抗梨黑星病,但受梨小食心虫危害较重。
