滑县麦黄杏杏是夏季早熟水果，每年麦黄时成熟上市，故而得名。其特点是成熟早，个头大，果肉甜，味鲜美，树冠大，产量高。滑县年产量在250～300万公斤左右。滑县栽种杏树距今已有3000多年的历史。1978年后，滑县每年把鲜杏加工成杏干、杏脯、罐头等，销往全国各地。杏营养丰富，全身是宝，其核是有名的中药。杏味酸甘、温和，具有下气润嗓，镇咳定喘，生津止渴和开胃的功效。杏中的维生素A、C、黄铜类等物质，以及杏仁中的杏仁甙等，对人体具有防癌、抗癌作用。
