Fire Damask Silk
Fire Damask Silk (a kind of folk dance), with other names of Umbrella Dance or Surround Lamps, origins from Han Dynasty, prevails in Tang Dynasty and reaches its peak in the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. It is a well welcomed folk dance prevailing in Shangcheng County, Xinyang City and has been listed into the first Henan Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Fire Damask Silk has three major figures: the person holding umbrella, female character and male character; and has two kinds of dance forms: big-stage dance and small-stage dance. This kind of dance is with natural and unstrained gestures and humorous plots, which make it contains high cultural connotation and research values.
