洛宁，素有“绿竹之乡”之美誉。其淡竹栽培历史悠久（距今已有4000余年），北魏曾有“山川澄秀，竹木蓊郁”之记载；栽植地域广大（现有7000余亩竹园），真是“竹林葱郁千山翠，绿海苍茫万顷涛”。淡竹因其杆高挺秀碧绿，姿态婆裟秀丽，幽雅别致，风趣独特被列为著名园林观赏树种。神灵寨国家森林公园金门河景区的金门韵竹古时就被誉为“永宁八景”之一。春笋吐秀，夏荫鸟鸣，秋叶含情，冬竿傲雪。人们在欣赏的同时，也留下了诸多吟咏。《金门竹韵》曰：“金门翠竹满山颠，却胜淇泉于渭川。管取伶伦非率尔，声谐律吕自天然。风簧响应银笙叶，雅韵疑从玉管传。更有知音张建白，构庐曾结此君缘”。吕俊恒《金门山晓望》曰：“隐隐有冥思，高高八九峰。云涛翻海日，涌出金芙蓉。地啸千岩竹，天鸣万壑钟。右军遗片石，风雨护蛟龙”。
